    Sander lucioperca have a tolerance for a wide range of salinities, water temperatures, and nutrient loads. They are already found in locations in Europe with more extreme temperatures and salinities than the Great Lakes which suggest that it would survive winter temperatures if introduced into the Great Lakes.

As S. lucioperca is an obligate piscivore as an adult, this species will predate on native and non-native fish species where introduced.
    Injurious: This species is listed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service as injurious wildlife. Identification: Berg (1949), Wheeler (1969, 1978), Maitland (1977), Howells (1992). Formerly known as Lucioperca lucioperca (e.g., Berg 1949). Size: 1 m (Robins et al. 1991).
    5, See text. Sander (formerly known as Stizostedion) is a genus of predatory ray-finned fish in the family Percidae, which also includes the perches, ruffes, and darters. They are also known as "pike-perch" because of their resemblance to fish in the unrelated Esocidae (pike) family.
    S. lucioperca is a vector of fish diseases and parasites which can be transmitted to native and farmed fish and it has also been found to be capable of hybridizing with Eurasian perch ( Perca fluviatilis) (Kahilainen et al., 2011) and Volga perch Sander volgensis (Specziar et al., 2009; Müller et al., 2010 ).
