Chamaecyparis pisifera 'Filifera Aurea'is a striking conifer with a graceful weeping appearance. The feathery branches bear evergreen cord-like, golden foliage that droop at the branch tips. Forming a shaggy mound when young, Chamaecyparis pisifera 'Filifera Aurea' matures to an upright conical tree with time.

‘Filifera Aurea’ is noted for its drooping yellow foliage. This is a dense, semi-dwarf, evergreen shrub that typically grows as a broad cone. It is slow growing, often reaching only 6-7’ tall in 20 years, but may eventually reach 15-20’ tall in optimum conditions.

This is a filifera-type plant with stringy, whip-like, golden yellow foliage. It retains good yellow color throughout the year. Cultivar name comes from the reportedly similarity of a small shrub to a mop head. RHS lists Chamaecyparis pisifera 'Filifera Nana Aurea' as a synonym of this plant.

'Aurea' is a compact, conical, golden-leaved cultivar that typically matures to 8-15' tall. Outer needles are a showy yellow but inner ones are mostly green. Golden foliage generally acquires green tones on older growth, and tends to lose its bright yellow color in winter.
