With over 3000 members (species), Turbellaria is a class of the phylum Platyhelminthes. As such, they are multicellular flatworms characterized by flattened appearance. They can be found in many aquatic habitats as well as given terrestrial environments. For this reason, they are very common and easy to find.
See text . The Turbellaria are one of the traditional sub-divisions of the phylum Platyhelminthes (flatworms), and include all the sub-groups that are not exclusively parasitic.

Like other members of the phylum Platyhelminthes (flatworms), those of the class Turbellaria are dorsoventrally compressed, with high surface area to volume ratios. Marine species can be quite colorful, but the interstitial and terrestrial turbellarians tend to be drab.
Turbellaria are adapted to a wide range of environments, and many species are resistant to extreme environmental conditions. Some occur in coastal marine habitats—in sand, on or under rocks, and in or on other animals or plants. Some marine species occur at relatively great depths in the sea; others are pelagic (i.e., living in the open sea).
