    Etymology: Corythoichthys: Greek, korys, korythos = helmet + Greek, ichtys = fish (Ref. 45335). Marine; reef-associated; depth range 2 - 30 m (Ref. 30874 ). Tropical; 35°N - 25°S Indo-Pacific: Red Sea and East Africa to Tonga, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Dorsal spines (total): 0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 25-31.
    Adult Schultz's Pipefish occur in pairs or small groups out in the open or in crevices and hollows at night. C. schultzi has a long head and snout and is the only species of Corythoichthys in which two external nasal pores are common.
