    Sargocentron rubrum, also known as redcoat, is a member of the family Holocentridae of the order Beryciformes. Squirrelfish in general are large, active, nocturnal fish which are usually red in color.
    Sargocentron rubrum was first recorded from the coasts of Israel by Haas and Steinitz ( 1947 ), as Holocentrum rubrum. Kosswig ( 1950) reported it [also as: H. rubrum ], along with seven new Indo-Pacific originated fishes, from the south Anatolian coast of Turkey (İskenderun Bay).
