Panulirus homarus is a species of spiny lobster that lives along the coasts of the Indian and Pacific Oceans. It lives in shallow water, and feeds on the brown mussel Perna perna. It typically grows to a length of 20–25 cm (7.9–9.8 in).
Panulirus homarus megasculptus has large squamae (megasculpta), is olive green with yellow lateral markings, and appears to be restricted to the Northern Arabian Sea. Adult Panulirus homarus homarus occur sympatrically along the Southeast African coast, at a low rate, possibly because of larval spill-over from further north in the Mozambique Channel, facilitated by surface drift resulting from monsoon winds ( Pollock, 1993 ).
