    Volvopluteus asiaticus - Wikipedia

Volvopluteus asiaticus is a species of mushroom in the Pluteaceae family. The cap of this mushroom is about 70–90 mm (2.8–3.5 in) in diameter, greyish brown to brown. The gills start out white but they soon turn pink. The stipe is white and has a volva at the base. Microscopical features and DNA … Meer weergeven

Four species are recognized in all the analyses: V. asiaticus, V. earlei, V. gloiocephalus and V. michiganensis. The four taxa of Volvopluteus are clearly distinct on molecular grounds.
The genus Volvopluteus has been erected to accommodate species formerly placed in Volvariella characterized by a gelatinous pileipellis and average basidiospore size over 11 μm (Justo et al. 2010 ).
Both molecular and morphological data confirm that this collection represents a species of Volvopluteus. North 2010b, Shaffer 1957 ). It has overall white colors but greyish and ochraceous tinges may be present in the pileus. separate spec ies. However, Volvopluteus earlei was originally (Justo and Castro 2010b, Shaffer 1957).
The type species, Volvopluteus gloiocephalus, has been traditionally included in the genus Volvariella. The first comprehensive molecular phylogeny of the Agaricales by Moncalvo et al. sampled two species of Volvariella ( V. volvacea and V. hypophytis) that were placed in a distant position from Pluteus.
